Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Saruk received his MD from Rush University Medical College in Chicago. After completing a residency in pathology and a fellowship in dermatopathology at Yale, he attended the University of Pennsylvania for his dermatology residency.

Prior to establishing a private practice, Dr. Saruk was an assistant professor of dermatology and pathology at the University of Pittsburgh, where he
established the pigmented lesion clinic, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma and related disorders.

Currently, Dr. Saruk is clinical associate professor of dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his clinical teaching responsibilities at Penn, Dr. Saruk is also an active participant in the dermatologic training of primary care physicians at both Christiana Care Health System and St. Francis Hospital (Delaware).

Dr. Saruk’s main interests are in the treatment of skin cancer and dermatopathology. He treats many skin cancers, frequently employing the Mohs Micrographic procedure (for further details, click on Mohs Surgery under Our Services).

Dr. Saruk also participates in clinical trials of new investigational and already licensed medications for the pharmaceutical industry. He is a consultant to numerous drug companies. (For further details on on-going clinical trials, go to Our Research Studies.)

Dr. Saruk is board-certified in pathology (anatomic), dermatopathology and dermatology. He has authored numerous publications and is the co-author of a pathology text. Dr. Saruk is also a member of numerous medical organizations, including fellowship in the American Academy of Dermatology, the US and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the American Society of Dermatopathology the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Mohs Surgery.

Dr. Saruk was voted “Attending Physician of the Year”, 2002, Durhing Clinic, the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Dermatology.

Dr. Saruk is an active staff member of Paoli Memorial Hospital and the Christiana Care Health System. He is a courtesy staff member of Chester County Hospital, Lankenau Hospital and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital. Dr. Saruk is also a consultant to the Pennsylvania Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
